Our water is from a well (with water softener) and we have a septic field for sewage so utility fees for our home are negligible. We are also not part of an HOA, so there are no fees for that. You can take your own trash to the waste transfer station if you wish to save more on utilities, but there are also a couple of trash companies that service the neighborhood. Cox is available to deliver cable, phone, and broadband. The Fairfax County school system is consistently listed as among the best in the nation, and we are a part of it. A creek goes along the entire length of the driveway and curves to go behind the property. You walk up entry stairs into the first floor kitchen. We have a gas stove and oven, automatic dishwasher, trash compactor, and a sink dispose-all unit. The floors in the kitchen, dining/living room, and first floor bedroom and hallway are hand-crafted, large plank hardwood nailed onto the subfloor. The main room is really two-in-one of a dining room and living room, with large triangular skylights. On this main floor there is a bedroom/office and a full bathroom (with shower/tub). We had a screened-in porch and wrap-around deck installed in 2020. The basement level has a den, small storage room, full walk-out basement door, and two bedrooms, each with their own window. A full bath (with shower) has under floor electric heating and two sinks, one of which is outside the bathroom and next to the laundry area. The top floor is an enclosed loft, and has the master bedroom and a walk-in closet. There is another full bath ensuite with a Jacuzzi tub and a stone and tile shower.
